Clinic & Care

What kind of clinic is Aralia Health? Aralia Health is an integrative, naturopathic medical clinic offering personalized, whole-person care. We blend evidence-based medicine with functional and preventative approaches to support long-term health, resilience, and healing. Our care is relationship-driven, thoughtful, and designed to meet you from wherever you are starting on your healthcare journey.

What conditions do you treat? We work with patients across all stages of life and support a wide range of concerns, such as: Hormonal health (including perimenopause, menopause & andropause) Digestive concerns Fatigue, stress, and sleep issues Metabolic health and weight support Cardiovascular health Immune support Preventative and longevity-focused care Complex, chronic illness. And more! Many patients come to us when symptoms feel complex, overlapping, or not fully addressed elsewhere.

What paperwork is required? Before your first visit, you’ll receive intake forms, consent documents, and questionnaires through our patient portal. Completing these in advance allows your provider to spend more time focused on you during your appointment.

Can a doctor at Aralia Health be my Primary Care Physician? Yes — for many patients, an Aralia Health provider can serve as their primary care provider. Dr. Robertson practices full-scope primary care while also bringing specialized training in naturopathic and integrative medicine. This means he can manage routine primary care needs—such as annual exams, preventive screening, chronic condition management, and medication oversight—while also addressing more complex or nuanced health concerns through a whole-person, systems-based approach. Patients are also welcome to see more than one provider at Aralia Health. Our doctors work closely together as a collaborative care team, sharing clinical insights and coordinating care to ensure your treatment plan feels cohesive, intentional, and well-aligned with your goals. Not all providers at Aralia Health practice primary care. Whether your Aralia provider can function as your PCP depends on the provider you see, your health needs, and your insurance requirements. Our front desk team is happy to help you determine the best care arrangement and guide you through next steps. Our clinic is open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM. We are unable to accommodate acute care needs or after-hours care outside of these business hours.

How do I get started? You can request an appointment through our website or contact our front desk directly. We’ll help guide you to the best starting point based on your goals, insurance, and care preferences.

How should I prepare for my initial consultation? Register for a Charm Patient Portal, complete your New Patient Paperwork and complete Consent Forms. It is important to complete these forms as accurately and thoroughly as possible. Please include ALL details of any medications or supplements that you regularly take, including dosage. We require intake forms to be complete prior to scheduling your initial consult. If you plan to utilize health insurance, we highly recommend that you also complete our Verifying Insurance Benefits worksheet. We are a small practice and do not verify insurance benefits for potential patients. It is up to you to determine this information. Call the office to get started!

How long are appointments? Visits are intentionally longer than typical medical appointments, allowing time for discussion, education, and collaborative planning. Our new patient visit is 75 minutes. Follow-up visits generally range from 20-50 minutes. Appointment length varies by visit type, health complexity and provider.

Do I need a referral? No referral is required to become a patient at Aralia Health. Some insurance plans may require referrals for coverage, so we recommend checking with your insurer if you plan to bill insurance.

How long does it take to get in? Appointment availability varies by provider and season. Because we intentionally limit patient volume to maintain quality care, there may be short wait times. If appointments are booking out, we’ll do our best to offer waitlist options when possible.

Do you offer virtual appointments? Yes. Many visits can be conducted via telehealth, depending on the nature of your care. We do require that all new patients establish care in person for their first appointment. For follow-up visits, our team can help determine if a virtual visit is appropriate.

Will my provider manage my medications? Providers can prescribe medications when clinically appropriate and in accordance with state regulations. Medication decisions are made thoughtfully and collaboratively, considering both conventional and integrative options.

Why are labs and imaging sometimes interpreted differently here? Many patients are told their results are “normal” yet still feel unwell. Conventional reference ranges are designed to detect disease — not always early imbalance or optimal function. At Aralia Health, we review labs and imaging through a functional, preventative lens, considering trends, patterns, and your full clinical picture rather than isolated numbers.

What is your cancellation policy? At Aralia Health we strive to provide timely and effective care to all of our patients. When appointments are missed or cancelled without sufficient notice, it disrupts our ability to accommodate other patients in need of care. Therefore, we have implemented the following policy regarding missed appointments and short notice cancellations: No Show Policy: A "no show" occurs when a patient fails to attend a scheduled appointment without prior notification. Patients who fail to show up for their scheduled appointment will be charged a fee equal to 50% of the cost of the scheduled appointment. Short Notice Cancellation Policy: A short notice cancellation occurs when a patient cancels their appointment with less than 48 hours' notice. Patients who cancel their appointment with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged a fee equal to 50% of the cost of the scheduled appointment. Payment of Fees: Fees for missed appointments and short notice cancellations will be billed to the patient and are due same day as the missed appointment or cancellation. Payment can be made by cash, check, or credit/debit card. If a card is stored on file under the patient’s account, it will be automatically changed. Exceptions: We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise that prevent patients from attending their scheduled appointments. In such cases, we encourage patients to contact us as soon as possible to reschedule their appointment. Exceptions to the no show and short notice cancellation policy may be made at the discretion of Aralia Health. Examples are acute illness, emergencies and unsafe travel ways. By scheduling an appointment with Aralia Health, patients acknowledge and agree to comply with the terms of our No Show and Short Notice Cancellation Policy. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy, please feel free to contact us. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

How does your financial hardship policy work? At Aralia Health, we believe that access to quality care should be available whenever possible, regardless of financial circumstances. We understand that unexpected hardships can arise, and we’re committed to supporting patients during challenging times. Our Financial Hardship Policy offers a 15% discount on office visit fees for pay-as-you-go and insurance-based patients with a household income under $35,000 per year. If you believe you may qualify, please contact our office for more information. Our team will walk you through the application process. Please note that patients enrolled in Aralia Health membership programs are not eligible for additional financial hardship discounts, as membership pricing already reflects bundled and reduced rates. We appreciate your understanding as we work to balance accessibility with the sustainability required to continue providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Memberships

What is the Aralia Health membership? Aralia Health memberships are optional and designed to support continuity, access, and ease of care over time. Memberships allow patients to receive more consistent, high-touch support with predictable monthly costs, while maintaining flexibility and choice in their care. We currently offer the Comprehensive Care Membership for $115 per month. A one-time onboarding fee of $350 is required to begin care, with a reduced fee of $175 available for active patients seen within the past 6 months. After onboarding, the $115 monthly membership fee is billed at the end of each membership month. There are no long-term contracts. Memberships may be canceled at any time with 30 days’ written notice.

Is a membership required to be a patient? No. A Membership is not required. Patients may choose pay-as-you-go care without a membership, depending on availability and care needs.

Is my membership tied to a specific provider? Yes. Your membership is associated with one primary provider, not the clinic as a whole. This supports continuity of care and a deeper, ongoing therapeutic relationship with the provider who knows your history best. In some cases, you may choose to see a different provider at Aralia Health for a specific area of expertise while maintaining your membership with your primary provider. In these situations, visits with the additional provider are billed as time-of-service office visits. Your 10% membership discount still applies to eligible services provided by any Aralia Health provider. You may also temporarily or permanently transfer your membership to a different provider if your care needs change. Please contact our office for assistance with provider transfers.

How do I transfer my membership to a different provider? If you would like to transfer your membership to a different provider, please submit your request in writing (via email, text or secure message). We will respond in writing to confirm the transfer and outline the timing and billing details. Membership transfers take effect at the start of the next membership month. Because memberships are billed at the END of each month, you will complete the current membership month with your existing provider, and the transfer will begin the following month. To support continuity of care and administrative clarity, membership transfers may be requested no more than once per membership month. There is no additional onboarding fee required to transfer your membership to a different provider.

Can I have multiple memberships? Yes. If you would like ongoing, comprehensive care with more than one provider at Aralia Health, you may hold multiple memberships. Each membership is tied to a specific provider and supports continuity of care within that provider’s scope of practice. Each membership includes its own onboarding process and monthly fee. For patients adding a second (or additional) membership, the onboarding fee for each additional provider is $175, which reflects a 50% reduced onboarding rate.

Why does Aralia Health limit the number of memberships? To ensure quality care, availability, and meaningful provider relationships, we intentionally cap the number of active memberships at any given time. This allows our team to deliver the level of care, responsiveness, and attention our patients expect. If memberships are full, we maintain a waitlist and do our best to accommodate patients as space becomes available.

Is the membership fee billable to insurance or HSA/FSA? No. Membership fees are paid directly by the patient and are not billable to insurance or HSA/FSA. Enrollment in a membership requires opting out of insurance billing, and superbills will not be provided for self-submission to insurance.

How can I cancel my membership? Membership cancellations require 30 days’ written notice, which may be submitted by email, text or secure message. We will respond in writing to confirm your cancellation and clarify your final billing date. Please note that memberships are billed at the END of each membership month. Depending on when notice is given, this may result in one or two additional billing cycles during the notice period. We will clearly communicate any remaining payments before your membership ends. Your membership will remain active and benefits will continue through your final paid month. You may reinstate your membership within 30 days of your final payment without penalty. After this 30-day window, the membership is considered fully terminated, and the $350 onboarding fee would be required to re-enroll. For patients who want to pause their membership, we offer a $25 per month hold option. Membership benefits are not active during the hold period, but this allows you to restart membership later without paying the onboarding fee again.

Insurance

Do you bill health insurance? Yes. We are currently credentialed (in-network) with: Blue Cross Blue Shield Aetna Pacific Source Allegiance Cigna  MT Health Co-Op Missoula County   Although we are in-network, this does not guarantee that the plan you have covers naturopathic physicians. If you plan to utilize health insurance, we highly recommend you call your insurance company to verify the details of your policy. Our support team has put together a tips and tricks handout to help with this process. Please give us call or email and we can pass the handout along for your convenience.  Please note that at this time Medicare and Medicaid do NOT cover naturopathic services in the state of Montana and we are unable to bill them for any services. We are also NOT able to bill a secondary insurance when Medicare is primary. If you have more questions about this please reach out to our office biller. We do NOT bill insurance for IV Therapy and some other non covered services . If you have insurance and elect to receive one of these self-pay services, we will ask that you sign a Financial Agreement acknowledging that you will be paying out-of-pocket. In these instances, we will NOT provide a Superbill. For any self-pay services, we will give you a price quote upfront and make sure there are no hidden costs.

Can I use insurance with my membership? No. The membership is an alternative to billing health insurance. Because care is provided through a monthly membership rather than per-visit charges, we are unable to bill insurance or generate superbills for insurance reimbursement. Patients who choose the Comprehensive Care Membership understand that they are opting out of insurance billing for covered services and agree to pay the monthly membership fee out of pocket.

How are office visits billed to insurance? Office visits at Aralia Health are generally billed to insurance using standard Evaluation & Management (E/M) codes, based on visit complexity and time. New patient visits are typically billed using CPT 99205, with prolonged service codes (99417) added when appropriate. Follow-up visits are generally billed using CPT 99212–99215, depending on the complexity of care provided. When clinically appropriate, manual therapy services may also be billed separately using CPT 97140 (manual therapy techniques). Coverage for manual therapy varies by insurance plan and medical necessity. Patient responsibility, including copays, coinsurance, or deductibles, is determined by the individual insurance plan and is due at the time of service.

What services are not covered by insurance? Certain services at Aralia Health are not covered by health insurance and are always self-pay, regardless of plan or medical indication. These include regenerative and pain-management injection therapies such as prolotherapy, PRP, and ozone injections, as well as intravenous (IV) nutrient therapy and intramuscular nutrient injections. In some cases, an Evaluation & Management (E/M) code may be billed to insurance for time spent addressing separate, medically appropriate health concerns on the same day as a procedure. However, the procedure itself is never covered by insurance. Regenerative injection therapies are priced per joint, typically ranging from $150–$550 per joint, and may also include a consultation fee when applicable. A detailed quote is always provided at the initial consultation before any treatment is performed. For a full list of our services, please visit our Services page!
